June 21 - July 19, 2015 Application deadline: March 1, 2015

Social innovation skills are needed now more than ever to tackle the urgent challenges of our times.  Complex problems confront individuals and communities in many different sectors. Whether your concerns lie with culture, climate, industry, justice or policy, creating the change we need in the world depends on gaining knowledge and finding new approaches.

This social innovation residency will be a foundation for imagining the world differently and building capacity to be a system leader. It will empower a diverse group of corporate, government, and community innovators and leaders to address complex problems and inspire social change through education, development, and renewal. Led by academic experts in social innovation from WISIR and expert faculty and thought leaders from PLLI, participants will integrate learnings from systems research, the environment, Indigenous knowledge, and the arts on a foundation of social innovation theory.

This residency will benefit you most if you are:

  • Ready to develop an idea that aims to address a complex problem;
  • Wanting to develop your capacities as a leader and social innovator;
  • Interested in deepening your understanding of the systems in which you live and work;
  • Open to exploring social innovation concepts through the powerful lenses of cutting edge creative practice, collaborative thinking and inspired learning, all rooted in Banff’s physical environment and indigenous wise practices; and,
  • Eager to develop the self-awareness that leads to transformative change.
