A Convergence of Child and Salmon

A Convergence of Child and Salmon is a blog written by author Mike Lewis to share the story behind the inspiration for the new book he has co-authored with Patrick Conaty entitled The Resilience Imperative: Cooperative Transitions to a Steady-State Economy that offers a hopeful and pragmatic vision for community sustainability and explores solutions and examples for addressing community needs in the areas of land, housing, food, transportation, energy and access to credit in a more resilient and sustainable way.

It includes an integrated analysis of the current challenges to sustainability and explores a number of possible solutions to meeting communities’ basic needs related to land, housing, food, transportation, energy and access to credit by profiling living examples from various grassroots initiatives.  Guided by a framework referred to as SEE Change (i.e. Social, Ecological and Economic Change), the authors emphasize the importance of engaged citizens – rather than experts operating on behalf of disengaged taxpayers or consumers – who play a central role in establishing and managing the innovations they have profiled.
