In this webinar, Tamarack thought leaders Jay Connor and Mark Cabaj explore the concepts and practices of Collective Impact type work more deeply. Specifically, they focus on the central and critical role of engaging the broader community in the work of collective impact. In practice, achieving community ownership for the outcomes goes well beyond a “nice to have” all the way to a pre-condition to seeing sustained change over the long run. While institutions can get hung up on roles, activities, ideology and funding, the broader community can bring a galvanizing focus to the outcomes to be achieved, clarity to “how will we know,” and the neutrality necessary to get beyond present practice. Ultimately, it is the behavior change in the community that creates the collective impact we are seeking.
