Today the concept of a community school is considered innovative. In the past, particularly in rural areas, the school was the center of the community. There are still some communities, where consolidation could not take hold, where it is still true.

Canadians and the whole world have heard about the challenges facing Baltimore, Maryland. Despite the realities and perceptions of Baltimore, there is at least once place where there is a deep, thriving sense of community.
